THE DISEASE OF INSOMNIA NATURALLY RESULTING INTERFERENCE OF HEALTH .WHAT ARE IDENTIFIED CAUSES WHICH LEADING TO THIS DISEASE ?

• The National Sleep Foundation's 2002 Sleep in America poll showed that 58% of adults in the U.S. experienced symptoms of insomnia a few nights a week or more. Although insomnia was the most common sleep problem among about one half of older adults (48%), they were less likely to experience frequent symptoms of insomnia than their younger counterparts (45% vs. 62%), and their symptoms were more likely to be associated with medical conditions, according to the 2003 poll of adults between the ages of 55 and 84.

Guys...based on my reading,there are many causes of insomnia. Transient and intermittent insomnia generally occur in people who are temporarily experiencing one or more of the following such as stress, environmental noise, extreme temperatures, a change in the surrounding environment, sleep/wake schedule problems for example those due to jet lag, or medication side effects. so, what do you think guys? can u guys contribute your ideas?

What causes insomnia?
You are more likely to develop insomnia if you are over age 60, if you are female, and if you have a history of depression. If you also have stress, anxiety, chronic medical conditions (such as arthritis or heart failure), or use certain medications, you are at increased risk for insomnia.
This are the causes from my reading. so, what are the other causes that we can be classified as the factors which lead to this disease?

its great Pak Lah. In my opinion there are still many factors which can affects someone to INSOMNIA.

However, do you know guys that chronic insomnia may also be due to behavioral factors, including the misuse of caffeine, alcohol, or other substances; disrupted sleep/wake cycles as may occur with shift work or other nighttime activity schedules; and chronic stress. and certain Behaviors are behaviors that perpetuate insomnia in some people, include expecting to have difficulty sleeping and worrying about it, ingesting excessive amounts of caffeine, drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes before bedtime, excessive napping in the afternoon or evening, and irregular or continually disrupted sleep/wake schedules. These behaviors may prolong existing insomnia, and they can also be responsible for causing the sleeping problem in the first place. so, implied by stopping these behaviors may eliminate the insomnia alltogether.
